Mudra of the Month: Mudra For Calming The Fire, Anger, Liver, & Spleen...

Mudra means "To Please", and is a way to invoke the unseen forces for health and happiness. You can literally manifest your destiny with the palm of your hands. Mudras are a type of sign language to the angelic realm. Every day, hire the angels of Light and fire the angels of darkness with Mudra Therapy.

The month of October is the 10th month of the year. Ten reduces to a one, which is the number for the Sun. The Sun is the energy of Fire, healing, and the principal of action. The Sun (ring) finger is connected to the Triple Burner meridian which controls the temperature of the organs and the systems of the body. It is important that our fire element is in balance, and by bringing harmony to the fire element within us, we are helping to harmonize the liver and spleen as well. The liver is the place where we store anger, and anger is expressed through the element of fire. By utilizing this hand posture, one can help the organs, let go of anger, and cool the entire being from any excess of fire.

The Saturn finger (middle finger) represents the fire element in one school of thought. By bringing the thumb down over the Saturn finger, we are reducing the fire element. The thumb (Mars) is a neutral finger, and it is connecting to the Sun finger (ring finger) to neutralize the Sun. This helps to ground in the Earth element and activate healing energy in the body. Stretching the Jupiter and Mercury fingers (index and pinky fingers), activates expansion, digestive harmony, and heart healing. The heart is the vessel of Love, and by stimulating the Sun finger, we access our heart center where forgiveness and mercy resides.

Personally, we utilize this mudra during more fiery moments or times of frustration with Sitali Pranayam breath practice. This breath is also good for the kidneys, spleen, and liver, and is cooling to the body, mind, and emotions. Inhale through a curled tongue slowly, hold, and exhale through the nose. By repeating this breath for three minutes while holding this mudra, the entire being calms and cools down to a peaceful state of lightness. In this state, we are less reactive and can calmly make choices for the highest good of all. Practice it for yourself!

How To Get Into The Mudra:

1. Straighten the spine in a comfortable posture sitting, standing, or laying down.

2. Rub your hands together vigorously.

3. Bring your middle finger (Saturn) down to the Venus mound under the thumb.

4. Bring your thumb (Mars) down over the middle finger (Saturn).

5. Connect your thumb (Mars) tip to your ring finger (Sun) tip.

6. Repeat the posture on both hands and hold here.

7. Relax your shoulders down and away from your ears.

8. Smile, breathe, and hold the mudra here for 3 - 11 minutes. Chanting the healing mantra "RaMaDaSaSaSaySoHung" or breathing a 3-Point Breath (See Below) is wonderful to do while holding any mudra.

Our kidneys act like a battery, charging and fueling the body and emotions. The kidneys and spleen control, cleanse and clear the blood. When we are angry, it is like injecting poison into our blood stream. This mudra helps to clean and clear excess heat and anger from the blood, revitalizing and strengthening the being on all levels with harmony. When you feel angry or irritated with a life situation, clear it out of your blood and energetic field with this powerful and amazing mudra. Share with your loved ones and practice on your own in order to activate how this mudra can help to support you and your body-mind-spirit.

3-Point Breath (Optional):

Inhale for a count of 20, Hold the breath for a count of 20, Exhale for a count of 20. Repeat this breath for 3 - 11 minutes to calm the mind and bring balance to the brain.
