It is the month of August, and we are focusing on the Skeletal System. This system of the body is made up of the internal framework of bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. Without this structure, we wouldn't be able to move and perform the way we do.
This week, we are focusing on healing sprains and strains. Sprains happen when ligaments are overstretched or torn, while strains occur when muscles are overstretched or torn. Energetically, they happy when we are having a hard time moving in the direction that life is taking us. There may be anger or resistance toward the changes that are manifesting, and we may feel unsupported. Both of these injuries take time to mend, and it is important that there is blood flow to the area in order for it to heal more effectively. Our favorite essences to go to for sprains and strains are Plai, Nutmeg, and Roman Chamomile.
Plai is a root essence from the Ginger family. She is a natural chi-warmer, bringing blood flow and circulation to any sprains or strains. Plai is anti-inflammatory and works as a powerful pain reliever. Energetically, Plai is the plant to help us move in the direction of our dreams. She helps us let go of resentment so we can live and let live, while extracting the blessings from every challenge.
Nutmeg is an ancient and sacred seed that is warming and toning. She is wonderful for sprains and strains, allowing blood flow, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory elements to take over. Nutmeg helps to strengthen the immune system so that it can provide a strong foundation for healing. Spiritually, Nutmeg is centering, restorative, and protective. She helps one to feel nurtured, safe, and calm, while opening and warming the heart.
Roman Chamomile is a beautiful and fragrant flower that is highly anti-inflammatory. She is wonderful for pain and discomfort in the body, aches, sprains and strains. For pain and cramping, this flower is one of the best plant healers to use. For the emotions and spirit, Roman Chamomile is the ultimate peace maker. She helps to instill contentment, calm, fearlessness, and the expression of Love and compassion. Roman Chamomile is very protective as well, guarding one's energy away from lower, dark forces of depletion.
All three essences help with the mind-body issues related to the sprains and strains. It is best to use essences for one month for every year you have had the symptoms that are being treated. In general, for the average adult weight and height, five to ten drops "neat" on the skin is enough to start anointing each essence 2-3 times a day. Always do a test patch on the inner arm to make sure that the essences are not too powerful to anoint "neat" on your skin. If they bring up a healing response, then use the bottoms of the feet to anoint, and meditate on what is coming up and out emotionally for healing. All three of these essences are safe to anoint directly onto the area(s) of concern. Apply directly over the wounded region, and massage it into the skin and tissues. This is the most effective way to use them for sprains and strains. These plants work well together, and can help to restore harmony and balance. All essences are safe to ingest in small amounts (3-5 drops in an ounce of water is a good start). Use your intuition to guide the way, and remember that less is always more in most cases.
