It's May and the nervous system is highlighted all month long. This week, we are looking at plants that help with neuropathy. Our favorite three essences that support healing neuropathy are Lavender, Cinnamon Bark, and Bergamot.
Neuropathy is a weakness, numbness, or pain from nerve damage that
usually occurs in the hands and feet. The most common reason for neuropathy in
the US is diabetes. Other ways it can happen is from injuries, infections, or
exposure to toxins. Energetically, neuropathy is connected to having
communication problems or when the receptive reporters within are not working
right.
Lavender is a woody shrub that has been used for thousands of
years as a dried herb and in aromatherapy. She is a natural pain reliever,
stress and anxiety reducer, and sleep aid. When using Lavender with neuropathy,
patients have recorded being more relaxed, less stressed, and able to
rest/sleep better. For these reasons, people with neuropathy have recorded more
healing benefits after using Lavender essential oil, since healing happens when
we are at rest. Lavender is a boundary aid, helping to bring harmony between
self and the environment. She is a gift that teaches to let go and let God,
allowing the being to relieve tension and bring in peace and clarity to move
forward on the healing journey.
Cinnamon Bark is a medicine that comes from the inner part of the
bark of the Cinnamon tree. She is a powerful tree essence that works against
diabetic neuropathy. Since this is one of the most common forms of neuropathy
and one of the best medicines for both the nervous system and diabetes, she
works especially well. Cinnamon Bark helps the heart to feel at peace, letting
go of the armor that blocks creative expression. She is great in releasing
emotional coldness, rage, and depression, allowing for one's greatest and
highest expression to manifest.
Bergamot is an Italian citrus that is healing for the entire
Central Nervous System. She is great for the nerves, for pain, and for stress
relief. Bergamot helps to radiate Love energy, uplift, relieve anxiety and
stress, and support one's heart to heal and come into harmony. When the heart
is in alignment, the entire being can find balance.
Together, these three essences work to harmonize the nervous
system and heal the emotions in order to create an environment to thrive and
heal.
It is best to use essences for one month for every year you have
had the symptoms that are being treated. In general, for the average adult
weight and height, five to ten drops "neat" on the skin is enough to
start anointing each essence 2-3 times a day. Always do a test patch on the
inner arm to make sure that the essences are not too powerful to anoint
"neat" on your skin. If they bring up a healing response, then use
the bottoms of the feet to anoint, and meditate on what is coming up and out
emotionally for healing. For nervous system healing, it is nice to anoint onto
the temples, the crown of the head, nape of the neck, the spine, and/or the
bottoms of the feet. For neuropathy, it is best to anoint to the place of
concern. If the feet have lost nerve feeling, then anoint onto the bottoms of
the feet. If the hands are the ones who have lost feeling, then anoint to the
palms. If anointing anywhere else, then apply the Cinnamon Bark lastly, over
the Lavender and Bergamot, in order to help with the strength and heat from the
Cinnamon Bark essence. Listen to the body when anointing plant medicine. The
body's wisdom will tell you if you need more or less, much like how muscle
testing works. The more we follow our own body's needs, the better the outcome
will be.
