It's May and the nervous system is highlighted all month long. This week, we are looking at plants that help with dizziness and vertigo. Our favorite three essences that support healing a dizzy head are Ravensara Aromatica, Peppermint, and Lemon Eucalyptus.
Vertigo is a type of dizziness that can result in a sudden spinning sensation which can be caused by an internal or external trigger of quick movements, medication, or trauma. Some express feeling like they are spinning in circles or that the room feels like it is spinning in around. This is a symptom of a much bigger condition. It is a sensation that will either be barely noticeable or so challenging that it is difficult to stand or keep balance. The energetic cause of dizziness is feeling flighty, having scattered thoughts, refusing to look at something important in our lives, or thinking about a situation that has no resolution and spinning around and around for a solution.
Ravensara Aromatica is known as the "cure all" in Madagascar. She is famous for being the "oil that heals" the immune system and respiratory system. Since the breath controls the mind, and dizziness happens in the head, this powerful plant has a direct impact on harmony of the crown chakra. Ravensara Aromatica means "aromatic leaf", and has camphor qualities that help to open up the breathing passageways and bring in more oxygen to balance the brain. As a tree, she is extremely grounding and elevating, allowing the being to find balance once again. Energetically, she is an ally in helping to feel at one with all beings, feeling competent, resolving shadow issues, and dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression.
Peppermint is known to stimulate the root chakra. She is a potent awakener of one's energy body, and grounding agent into the physical realm. Peppermint helps the nervous system fight stress, the mind relieve exhaustion, and the body fight off low frequencies of dis-ease. She works as an anti-viral, anti-parasitic, lung tonic that helps to relieve dizziness, headaches, and nausea. Energetically, Peppermint relaxes emotional tension, stimulates positive energy, and promotes harmony.
Eucalyptus Lemon is a tree that grounds and heals on all levels. She works as an uplifter, anti-viral, and anti-fungal, and blood pressure harmonizing medicine. These qualities help the body to ground, enliven, and awaken the faculties that help manifest harmony and balance. Energetically, Eucalyptus Lemon is a supporter of regaining trust, restoring harmony, and finding the meaning and purpose of life.
Together, these three essences work to ground the physical body, while restoring trust and clarity to resolve mental or emotional issues that have come up in the healing process. The Plant Kingdom serves as a balancing agent, restoring stability and resolving the issues that cause us to spin in circles. With Love, clarity, and patience, all perceived problems have time to work out the kinks. As they say, time heals all wounds... and holistic medicine takes time to help us process and move the energies that are stuck.
It is best to use essences for one month for every year you have
had the symptoms that are being treated. In general, for the average adult
weight and height, five to ten drops "neat" on the skin is enough to
start anointing each essence 2-3 times a day. Always do a test patch on the
inner arm to make sure that the essences are not too powerful to anoint
"neat" on your skin. If they bring up a healing response, then use
the bottoms of the feet to anoint, and meditate on what is coming up and out
emotionally for healing. For nervous system healing, it is nice to anoint onto
the temples, the crown of the head, nape of the neck, the spine, and/or the
bottoms of the feet. For dizziness or vertigo, it is best to anoint to the top of the head. You can also anoint onto the bottoms of the feet for grounding down at the same time. Listen to the body when anointing plant medicine. The body's wisdom will tell you if you need more or less, much like how muscle testing works. The more we follow our own body's needs, the better the outcome will be.
