Essence Protocol of the Week: The Muscular System and Cardiomyopathy...

It is the month of September, and we are focusing on the Muscular System. This system of the body functions to pump blood throughout the body, help with movement, and support the body by maintaining its posture. There are smooth muscles that work when we are awake and asleep to help make it function correctly. There are cardiac muscles that make up the heart. Finally, there are skeletal muscles that we think of as the traditional "muscle", helping the body move and stand up. On the energetic level, muscle pain is related to succumbing to fears, inflamed thinking, and anger that makes us "see red". This week, we are focusing on healing cardiomyopathy. Our top three essences for cardiomyopathy are Sugandha Kokila, True Basil, and Mace.

Cardiomyopathy is a dis-ease of the heart muscle that challenges the ability of the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. This dis-ease can lead to heart failure and death. There are various causes of cardiomyopathy, including viral infections, congenital heart dis-ease, nutritional deficiencies, uncontrollable & fast heart rhythms, or certain types of chemotherapy for cancer. Energetically, cardiomyopathy is connected to the emotions of Love and Joy. One can sometimes close the heart as the result of unresolved family issues or fear of allowing Love in after being hurt. It manifests when we have the need to shut the flow of life off to the heart.

Sugandha Kokila is an evergreen tree, and the essence comes from the oil of the dried berries. Her scent is used in many beauty and fragrance products because it is said to strengthen the chakras and the energy field. Sugandha Kokila is wonderful for the heart and for muscle spasms and tension. She helps with the contraction of the blood vessels and circulation that helps to strengthen heart health. Energetically, Sugandha Kokila is great for Love, passion, optimism, and clearing the heart.

True Basil is an annual herb that is known as the "Herb of Kings". She was a symbol of death in Ancient Greece, and was known to support past life meditations and openings to the astral world. True Basil is a heart healer, supporting healthy arteries and veins, toning the heart, and helping with congestion. She is a powerful anti-viral medicine as well as an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. Energetically, True Basil helps to shift old patterns, gain a higher perspective, and surrender to one's higher self.

Mace is the husk of the Nutmeg Seed that grows from an evergreen tree. She was very popular during the Medieval times in trade as she was beneficial for warding off the plague. Mace is a heart stimulant, warmer, and opener. She can help to enhance relaxation, and she supports the soul in releasing stress in order to restore balance. The more nurtured and safe we feel, the more open to healing the heart wounds we become.

It is best to use essences for one month for every year you have had the symptoms that are being treated. In general, for the average adult weight and height, five to ten drops "neat" on the skin is enough to start anointing each essence 2-3 times a day. Always do a test patch on the inner arm to make sure that the essences are not too powerful to anoint "neat" on your skin. If they bring up a healing response, then use the bottoms of the feet to anoint, and meditate on what is coming up and out emotionally for healing. Anoint onto the skin by layering Mace, Sugandha Kokila, and True Basil last. For some skin types, Basil can be hot and bring up a healing response, so layer to be safe. Pour the plant medicine directly over the the area of concern - and in this case it is the heart. These plants work well together, and can help the healing process greatly. All essences are safe to ingest in small amounts (3-5 drops in an ounce of water is a good start). Use your intuition to guide the way, and remember that less is always more in most cases, and the body knows what's best - so always listen to it.
