It is the month of July, and we are focusing on the Endocrine System. This system of the body is made up of glands that are in charge of our hormones. These hormones get released into our bloodstream and travels to the cells and other parts of the body in order to cary information from one group of cells to another group of cells. This week, we are focusing on the Thyroid. It is literally shaped like a butterfly, and sits near our Throat Chakra to help us with our spiritual transformation. Spiritually speaking, the Thyroid helps with our personal power, self-expression, and ability to live our inner dreams. The Thyroid makes Thyroxine and Trilodothyronine hormones that control the rate at which cells burn food for energy. The more of this hormone in the blood, the faster the chemical reaction happens physically. They also help with bone growth in teens and the development of the nervous system and brain. People can suffer from hyper-thyroidism (overactive thyroid) and hypo-thyroidism (underactive thyroid). The most common is hypothyroidism. Our favorite essences that address harmonizing the Thyroid Gland are Green Myrtle, Myrrh, and Black Cumin Seed Oil.
Green Myrtle is an evergreen shrub or small tree that is native to the mediterranean area. She has been used in ancient mythology and in rituals since antiquity. This amazing plant has proven to have the power to stimulate the Thyroid and harmonize both the Thyroid and the Ovaries. She works great for both under and over working glandular function. Green Myrtle supports us in letting go of all of our fears, calming mental chatter, soothing the overactive mind, and releasing negative memories and trauma from the body.
Myrrh is a gum resin made from the dried tree sap of a small, thorny tree. She is extremely resilient and strong, and was one of the three gifts for baby Jesus from the Wise Men. Myrrh is known to be helpful for the Thyroid. People with Hypothyroidism have said they find her extremely helpful. She is calming and soothing and used as a spiritual strengthener. With greater awareness, vision, and ability to see the bigger picture, the disharmonies have a chance to find their way back to center. Myrrh is an overall upper and lower chakra balancer.
Black Cumin Seed Oil is our all-healing, magically gentle and strong nut oil from Israel. She is known as the "blessed seed" that has been held as a powerful healer for over 3000 years. Either topically, orally, or both, Black Cumin Seed Oil can be taken daily with any of the other essences for not just Thyroid health, but for the entire body. Spiritually speaking, she works on control issues as well as manipulation. As we become stronger on the inside, we are able to hold stronger boundaries and protect ourselves from darkness.
All three essences help with the mind-body issues related to Thyroid imbalances. It is best to use essences for one month for every year you have had the symptoms that are being treated. In general, for the average adult weight and height, five to ten drops "neat" on the skin is enough to start anointing each essence 2-3 times a day. Always do a test patch on the inner arm to make sure that the essences are not too powerful to anoint "neat" on your skin. If they bring up a healing response, then use the bottoms of the feet to anoint, and meditate on what is coming up and out emotionally for healing. All three of these essences are safe to anoint directly onto the throat chakra, neck, and upper chest areas. These plants work well together, and can help to restore harmony and balance. All essences are safe to ingest in small amounts (3-5 drops in an ounce of water, except for the Black Cumin Seed Oil which can use 10 drops or more). Use your intuition to guide the way, and remember that less is always more in most cases.
